All-Natural 100 Calorie Snack

When I was a kid, I ate fruit more often than I do now.  It usually takes a nice summer fruit salad for me to remember how much I enjoy snacking on fruit.

Since it's just the 3 of us, it's not really economical for us to buy everything that goes into making a big fruit salad.  We just can't eat it fast enough before it spoils.  So, unless we're having a barbecue with family and friends, I have to make-do with a smaller salad.

The other day, Grace asked for some oranges.  (When Grace asks for oranges, she means the canned Mandarin Oranges.  She won't even try a piece of fresh-peeled orange.)  We were out of the canned oranges, so I opened up a can of sliced peaches hoping that she would eat them.

After putting together a little bowl of sliced grapes and diced up peach slices for her, I decided that I needed a snack.  Thinking about how smaller dishes give the illusion of more food, I grabbed one of her small, plastic bowls and put together a little fruit salad for myself.

Half of a banana, 10 grapes, 4 strawberries, 1/4 cup of no-sugar-added peach slices.  Just 91 calories!

So much more satisfying than a pre-packaged 100-calorie pack from the store!  Sure, it could have been a little healthier if I used fresh peaches, but I used what I had on hand.
